Class Teacher – September 2020

Permanent – MPS

The Governors of Pennine Way Junior Academy wish to appoint a permanent Class Teacher from September 2020 following the departure of a member of the Senior Leadership Team to take on a new role.

We are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner who has ideally had recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2. We are not looking for anyone with a particular subject specialism but are looking for a teacher who is passionate about their favourite subjects in the curriculum, as well as the wider curriculum as a whole.  We wish to appoint someone who can bring enthusiasm and ideas to help our school in the next stage of its journey and actively support the Senior Leadership Team in achieving the school’s aims.

In addition to the teaching post we also have a vacancy on our Senior Leadership Team available for a suitably experienced candidate and you should make it clear if you wish to be considered for this position in your supporting letter. The vacancy is that of Head of Year 5 and carries an additional allowance.  More information about this can be provided on request.

We have an excellent, vibrant staff, who enjoy working at Pennine Way, and all applicants will need to be team players. Planning, preparation and assessment are often done collaboratively and we shall be seeking a candidate with the skills necessary to do this effectively; showing a commitment to the team, being reflective and modelling good practice. The right candidate will have a track record of achieving rapid and sustained pupil progress and will be a practitioner who puts the well-being of the children at the heart of all they do.

Support for new members of staff will be provided. All our staff receive PPA time over and above the 10% minimum and should the successful applicant be an NQT then they will receive the support of one of our experienced members of staff, to further assist and guide them through the induction period.

Please have a look at our website for more information about our school and read our latest Ofsted report (November 2019) where the school was rated as GOOD. We are very proud of our school and are looking forward to welcoming a new member of staff to our team to help us move forward in the next stage of our development.

At Pennine Way we are fortunate enough to have extensive grounds which allow opportunities for all our pupils to take part in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. We are an academy and are therefore self – governing, meaning that the successful applicant will become an employee of the ‘Academy Trust’ rather than the Local Authority. This autonomy has many advantages, however, do not be concerned, we work very closely with our colleagues across Derbyshire and benefit from ‘The Best of Both Worlds’!

Due to the COVID-19 situation we are unfortunately unable to accommodate visits to our school prior to interview but virtual tours are available and conversations with myself are most welcome.

We warmly welcome applications from teachers at all stages of their career.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

If are interested in applying for this post, please complete the application form and a letter in support of your application and send the completed documents to:
