Pennine Way Junior Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.   This is underpinned by robust processes and procedures that seek to maximise opportunity, minimise risk and continuously promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce.

All successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check which must be maintained throughout the period of employment.

Family Support Worker

Thank you for showing an interest in the Family Support Worker vacancy we have available at Pennine Way Junior Academy. This is a new post that we are creating at the school which is much needed due to the increasing levels of support required by our families in the locality. It is an exciting position working alongside Senior Leadership Team  and supporting them across a number of areas at school, including safeguarding.

The successful candidate will need to be passionate about working with families and ideally have experience or training in this field. This may include training in the form of sociology or psychology but experience in any kind of educational setting will also be warmly welcomed.

We would like the successful candidate to work between 30 and 37 hours per week depending on their own personal circumstances and this will be discussed during the interview process. The Academy is proud of its commitment to flexible working.

The position itself is a 52 week a year post and, as a result, there is likely to be a small amount of work to be completed during school holidays and working from home will be encouraged for this, where possible.

Pennine Way Junior Academy has been a stand-alone academy since it converted to become an Academy in November 2011. We are a junior school catering for children aged 7-11 and have approximately 375 children on roll. The academy was graded good at its last OFSTED and continues to enhance its reputation locally.

Should you wish to know anything further about the post, please do not hesitate to contact me. Due to COVID restrictions still in place at this time, we cannot accommodate visits to look around the school, however it is anticipated that interviews will take place face to face.

I look forward to receiving your application with the closing date set as 27th June 2021.
